There are various options to download free movies from the net and you should try and use the option that is best suited to you.
However, you should exercise caution before you proceed. Various downloadable movies that are available on the net for free are copyrighted. It is not legal to download them and you may be legally prosecuted if you download them. However, this is not a problem as far as downloading movies that belong to the public domain is concerned.

These sites charge members a certain sum of money per month and in lieu of this sum they allow their members to download as many movies as they want. Such sites are hosted on servers that have a high speed internet connection and the download speed of the movie is dependent on the download speed provided to you by your internet service provider. There is an abundance of such sites on the net.
NNTP sites:
These sites are hosted on NNTP servers (newsgroup servers) and they too permit you to download the movies at a blazing speed. In order to download movies from these sites you need to be a member of any newsgroup server. Special decoding software is also required in order to successfully download movies from such sites. The movies are stores in bits called chunks in here. Once the download is complete, the software recodes back the chunks into one file which can then be viewed.
P2P Sites:
The favorite amongst movie downloader’s are the peer to peer networks. Over here the speed of the download is also dependant on the upload of the sharer. Here the movie file is broken up into small chunks. You download the movie chunk by chunk. In order to download movies that are shared via the P2P network special programs like torrent clients are also required. The concept in here is sharing. While you are downloading a movie, chunks of it that have already been downloaded to your hard drive are also being uploaded.
